We live in a culture overflowing with advice about how to live well: Eat healthy. Practice mindfulness. Optimize your time. Make friends. Don’t forget to rest.
Yet despite having more information than ever before, many of us feel uncertain about our lives. Are we making the “right” choices? Setting ourselves up for success (whatever that is)? Doing what is actually important?
Perhaps wisdom comes not from continuing to accumulate new information and advice, but from a deeper recognition of how life itself moves.
In this introductory workshop, we’ll explore an expansive perspective on human life that is rooted in our connection with the natural world, and reflected in ancient and indigenous wisdom traditions.
Using the image of a river as our guide, we’ll explore the qualities of each stage of life, and how people at each stage contribute to the others in a community. We’ll also tune into the peace that becomes available when we work with the current of life, and trust that it will carry us where we need to go.
Expect an interactive experience, with opportunities to reflect and share with others.
Whether you’re navigating a major life transition, or simply looking for a more coherent and compassionate way to understand the human journey, we invite your participation.

Anne Lafleur. For as long as she can remember, Anne has been curious about the question: How does one live well? That question led her to pursue a double major in psychology and religious studies, where she discovered that academic knowledge was not the same as life wisdom – but that spending time with dying people and their families was profoundly meaningful. While pursuing her Master’s in Social Work, she became fascinated by group dynamics, and how people can work together to create much more than any individual could alone. After many years working in corporate and higher ed settings as a business analyst, training designer, and specialist in recognition and appreciation, she is grateful to have found Sacred Fire, which has expanded her perspective beyond just human beings, to the whole divine living world. In addition to her role as Director of Lifeways, she is the Founding Director of the Center for Sacred Belonging, a spiritual community outside of Boston, MA committed to helping us be better humans to each other, and to all of Life.
