The Practice of Prayer

Cultivating a Relationship with Divine

Many people think of prayer as a petition, like sending a letter asking for something from a person you don’t know. But effective prayer is actually a two-way conversation between you and the Divine. It is at once fundamental, foundational, emotional, and deeply experiential.

In this special four-part series, we will explore the essence of prayer—not as a concept but as a living practice that connects you to Divine in your daily life. It is an opportunity to cultivate a more direct, personal connection to prayer as a transformative experience.

Together, you and the other participants will explore:

  • The historical context of prayer.
  • Humanity’s unique relationship with Divine—however one conceives of it.
  • Why prayer has been an essential and enduring aspect of the human experience.

“Sharing my struggles, challenges and longings with Divine in the privacy of my heart gives my life deeper meaning and purpose, and reinforces that I am not alone.”

– Christina Gravelle, Facilitator

Whether you are new to prayer or seeking to enrich an existing practice, this workshop offers guidance, reflection, and direct experience to support your journey.

As we learn and practice together, you’ll come away with:

  • A deeper experience of prayer, what it is, why it matters, and how it functions
  • A practical framework for connecting with and petitioning Divine in a way that resonates with you
  • A meaningful practice to explore and deepen your spiritual relationship with Divine

How the workshop is structured:

  • Part 1: An in-person two-day weekend (9:00 am – 5:00 pm on Saturday & Sunday) to introduce you to the foundational principles and practices of prayer
  • Parts 2 and 3: Two 2-hour online classes, each 1-2 weeks apart, to share what you’ve been practicing and get additional guidance.
  • Part 4: A final in-person day-long experience (9:00 am – 5:00 pm) to cement your learning.
