Walking With Fire
Connect with the ancient wisdom of Grandfather Fire in this unique online gathering space. Through selected teachings and meaningful conversation, participants explore timeless insights that can transform their daily lives.
A Journey of Discovery
Walking With Fire isn’t about reaching a fixed destination or finding absolute answers. Instead, it’s an invitation to experience the world through an ancient lens—one that our ancestors embraced thousands of years ago as they gathered around sacred fires for light, warmth, and spiritual connection. This primordial relationship with Fire as a Spirit continues to illuminate our connection to the mysterious web of life.
The Experience
In each session, participants:
- Listen to selected teachings from Grandfather Fire
- Share personal reflections and experiences
- Engage in heart-centered dialogue with other participants
- Discover how Fire’s wisdom can help in their own lives
This relational approach to receiving wisdom helps integrate these teachings more deeply into our lives. Rather than seeking “right” answers, we explore how Fire’s wisdom already flows through our individual experiences—what we call “knowing”—insights that resonate deeply with our true nature and life purpose.

2026 is an exciting year of expansion for Sacred Fire events, including Walking with Fire. To broaden accessibility and help spread fire, we are shifting how we share these conversations. Walking with Fire sessions will be recorded and a private link to the entire recording will be made available to all registrants for two weeks after the call.

Lawrence (Larry) Messerman has been continuously astonished by–and deeply grateful–for the wisdom of Grandfather Fire ever since he first ‘met’ Grandfather at a gathering on the beach in Santa Barbara, CA over 25 years ago. Under Grandfather’s guidance, Larry went on to become a mara’akame (initiated healer and ritual leader in the Wirárika or Huichol tradition) as well as being involved with Sacred Fire in various capacities. (The gods seem to like keeping human people busy!) This includes organizing Ukilái retreats for men, helping to launch Sacred Fire’s mentoring program for young adults, as well as becoming a Co-Executive Director and eventually Executive Director of Sacred Fire. He currently serves as Sacred Fire’s Speaker or chief spokesperson. Larry and his wife Jessica De la O and their friend Sherry Boatright help people connect with Grandfather Fire’s ‘primal form’ at their monthly community fires in Carrollton, Georgia.
