Celebrate a traditional Tibetan New Year
After a ceremony to honor the Tibetan New Year, Grandfather Fire will speak of the influence of The Year of the Water Tiger, then offer guidance by answering questions from the audience.

For over 20 years, Grandfather Fire—called “Tatewari” by Mexico’s Indigenous Huichol people—has been sharing teachings, sacred stories and life guidance with people all over the world. Find out more information about this phenomenon here.

Grandfather Fire—Traditional cultures throughout the Americas have long known Fire to be a wise and loving presence. Many Aboriginal and First Nations peoples call the Spirit of Fire Grandfather. During Fire Speaks audiences, traditional healer Don David Wiley lends his body so the Spirit of Fire can answer questions from those who come to hear His stories and wisdom. Spending time with Grandfather Fire and his teachings about living life from Heart has helped thousands find clarity and courage to meet life’s challenges in a new way. Grandfather Fire is wise, funny, provoking, and profoundly insightful. Spending an evening with Him is a unique opportunity to ask your most pressing questions about life’s mysteries and deepen your connection with the sacred spirits of the natural world.

3:30 pm: The day begins with registration and continues with:
- Social time: Get to know each other and the local community.
- Presentations and Q&A about Casa Xiuhtecuhtli (House of Fire in Nahuatl), the activities and events hosted on this Sacred Land and the significance of Fire Speaks and the Tibetan New Year.
- Delicious sweet and savory tamales, coffee and atole for dinner (separate purchase, please bring pesos)
6:30 pm: Consecrate the Fire together
Community Offerings
Each year at the Tibetan New Year Audience we also have the opportunity to make special communal offering bundles which we will ´feed´ to Grandfather Fire. As we do so, we set our intentions and ask for blessings for our individual and communal endeavors. You are invited to bring copal, cacao and tobacco to contribute to these offerings. We can help purchase the copal and cacao here in Tepoztlán ahead of time if you let us know your needs at least a week before the event.

6:30: Follow Up Fire: We meet again around the Fire to share our experiences, insights and take-a-ways from our time with Grandfather.
